1. Why can't I drink alcohol in a taxi?
The main reason is for Driver security. Also it is to prevent spillage from opened bottles or cans. There is a $100.00 fee for any soilage in our taxis.
2. Can I smoke in the taxi?
The current smoking laws prevent smoking in taxis as this the place of work for drivers.
3. Can you take 5 passengers in a taxi?
No. Our taxis only fit a maximum of 4 passengers. If you have more than 4 passengers you will need to request a station wagon or van.
4. Do I have to book in advance?
If you have up to 4 passengers it is up to you. However if you are requiring a van you will need to book in advance to ensure we have a van available of the day of your booking.
5. Can I ask the Driver to beep when he arrives?
Yes you can advise the Operator when you call. However if it is after hours they are not allowed to beep.
6. I may have left an item in the taxi, what is the procedure to locate it?
If you know the Cab Number that picked you up, you can call our Call Centre to enquire. If you are unsure of the Driver but positive it was a Hamilton Taxi you will need to check down at the Central Police Station on Bridge Street. All Drivers are required to hand in all unclaimed lost property within 24 hours.
7. I pre-booked my taxi and its still not here
We endeavour to get your taxi there on time however if it is during our peak periods which are usually Friday and Saturday nights between 10pm – 3am we can not guarantee the Cab will be there on time.
8. I want to set up an account with Hamilton Taxis, how do I do that?
You need to call our billing company, Taxi Charge in Auckland. Contact phone number is 09 306-1790
9. Do you provide quotes?
No we can only provide an estimate only based on the distance of the trip. We can not predict any waiting time which is charged in addition to the estimate. Our Tariff Charges are as follows;
Tariff 1 – Account holders – $2.70 per km
Tariff 2 – up to 4 passengers – $3.00 per km
Tariff 3 – More than 4 passengers – $3.30 per km
Flagfall Charge – $2.50
Waiting Time – 80c per minute
Airport Surcharge – $4.00
If paying by Credit Card minimum transaction is $10.00
